What It’s All About
Faith without works is dead. This is scriptural. But this can be very misunderstood! It’s not about doing things to get God to love you. It’s about doing them because He does.
It is Written
Let me ask you? How do you read the word of God. Do you realize that every word was written with love in mind? This totally changes the intent the writers had. It was to admonish and equip the saints that they wrote.
If we try to earn approval through good works then we are refusing what Jesus did for us on the cross saying our self righteousness is a better standard. We are running on a treadmill and getting nowhere. Trying to keep the law brings a curse when your motive isn’t because you know you are loved and love in return.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
The Good News Is
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive (I)the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Repent, Believe, Receive
If you are counting on your good works for acceptance repent and turn from self righteousness, and instead work to believe and to receive what Christ has done on your behalf. Receive the gift by faith in Jesus.
