Heart Strings, Waiting on God, Walking by Faith

When You Don’t Know What to Do

What do you do when you don’t know what to do? When you are in God’s waiting room of life and it seems there is a state of confusion and no clarity?

Isaiah 40:31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

When you are in the waiting room of a doctor’s office you look around and see magazines and books being read, people on their phones, and patients chatting, some resting their eyes. We like to inform ourselves and entertain ourselves when waiting for the doctor to call us back. When we are impatient we can find This is waiting actively.

How does this relate to the active waiting we are called to do when we don’t know what to do? When we are in God’s waiting room? We look around at what’s available in the waiting room. What does God say about the situation we are currently in? We can consult the word of God to see what promises He has made to us that relate to our state of being. We can pray. We can worship. We can listen to worship music. We can chat with a friend about our situation and ask for prayer. We can ask ourselves what the last thing God told us to do was. All of these things are acts of faith in the waiting.

So today instead of looking at the time and wondering why God is being silent and confusion has set in we can use the time actively.

Well, what do I do if I have done all that? There is one more thing we can do.

Have faith, rest in Jesus, and believe that although we don’t know what to do; we can expect that the answer is coming.
