After the Rain

Ocean Front Property

I look up with joy at the cloudy blue sky for the first time in three days.

It has been raining, and raining, and raining so much I have to walk through my yard with muck boots on to get to my office.

The water is always left standing in our yard after a good pouring down.   My husband and I call it ocean front property in our county.

Stuck

My daughter got herself stuck in the field, and she came back pouring water out of her muck boots.

Her dad asked her what she was thinking.  She said, “Daddy, I’m just a country girl jumping in the puddles.

Needless to say, it was more like a pond in the field that she jumped into.  Do you remember jumping in the puddles after a hard rain?

Drenched

Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”  John 7:38 KJV

Often we can’t stand to be drenched.  When the rain comes and does not go we get depressed because of the lack of sunshine.

However, being drenched in the Spirit is what we all long for.    It is the blue sky after a spiritual rain.

And when you have been parched due to time in the desert, time in the valley, or climbing the mountains of life you have never been more grateful than after a spiritual rain.

Refreshing

I have been going through the valley after being in the desert for a very long time and I found solace and refreshing in Whispers of Rest by Bonnie Gray.

Her 40-day devotional brings you closer to God in an intimate way reminding you God is ever present in your life loving you as an individual just as you are.

It is about resting in the presence and being showered with the love of God

Book Club

There is a book club beginning June 5th and I would like to invite you to join us in becoming God’s Beloved all over again.  Come and be drenched by the Spirit and have your soul rained upon and find that out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water again.

There is just something about the air after the rain that I love Beloved.  Don’t you?

I’m linking up with Coffee for Your Heart and Tune in Thursday

  1. Hi Melinda, expecting the rain, is a big leap from hoping it will come. To me, that’s a measure of trust that we long for. Thanks for sharing, Melinda.
