Since neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was assailing us, from then on all hope of our being saved was gradually abandoned.
Acts 27:20 NASB
(I have been in a storm of late. I invite you into my lament and storm-tossed thoughts. I’m sharing the truth my heartstrings are playing as I seek to praise the God who keeps me in perfect peace when I keep my mind stayed on Him.)

I feel as though I am tossed at sea. A person lost at sea. Though I don’t remember ever boarding a vessel that was launched at sea.
How I wonder why I never feel home.
I wonder why I never feel settled.
I never feel grounded.
I never feel as though I’ve found my way.
How can this be when I know you Lord?
How can this be when I seek you daily?
It gives me rest, peace in the midst of the storm, to remember that Paul was once lost at sea.
That his only comfort was that lives would not be lost.
That although the ship would have to be broken.
That the cargo would have to be scattered and its only use possibly for floating.
That lives would not be lost.
You promised us that you would be with us in the midst of the storm.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2 NIV
That the storms of life that come are under your Sovereign hand, gives me solace.
In these scriptures we take refuge today oh Lord.
Yet now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. Acts 27:22 NASB
Help us let go of what way we thought we were traveling, and what we were taking with us oh Lord. So we may take hold of peace and your way toward the destiny you have in mind for us oh Lord. We give you praise as the keeper of our Shalom.
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,
Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3 NASB
Beloved, we don’t have to hide how we feel. God already knows. Consider writing your own Psalm of sorts to the Lord. He wants you to share your heart with Him. In all of it’s imperfection. This is what Holley’s book is about. You’re Loved No Matter What: Freeing Your Heart from the Need to Be Perfect
