Just yesterday a friend who coaches me as a writer challenged us to go outside, find an object or scene, and describe it without using cliches and common words. Be descriptive as possible with your words.
This to me was an opportunity to witness nature and tie it in with our creator.
Here is what I witnessed:
Touched by the breeze the needles flow. I can hear them whispering about the wind. We can’t see it but it’s there. It’s strength shows in the sway of branches older than I. I wonder at the might of the pines that shoot up tall so quickly. They stand firm against every storm, and are ever green in the nakedness of winter. Even with broken branches they testify about a creator who knew what they would need to endure the raw elements. He knew they would be exposed, that they would bend, and break, and yet give shelter to wildlife and men. A bruised reed He will not break tells a tale of His strength in our weakness.
I challenge you to do the same and write about what you witnessed. Then comment here with what you wrote. I can’t wait to read it.
