Walking Wounded One: You Deserve Wholeness

Traveling Through

Who knew a highway could be so dangerous when the first inclination of their necessity entered the minds of men? That cars would be designed as they are today, and speed limits so high. It’s an everyday part of life to travel the highways and byways. No one contemplates the risk of their being in accident that day when the turn the key.

Life has highways and byways. Like a car accident leaves the wounded on the side of the road. Daily life can too.

On The Side of Life

When an accident has happened trauma units prepare as the injured are transported by first responders.  Once at the hospital the team of caregivers assess the patients and address critical needs first.  And then one by one the other wounds get care.   The wounds all different and all in need of specific treatment to ensure the patient being restored to health. Each accident victim is unique and requires a specific treatment plan with specific personnel.

When we have been injured by life, there are times people know right away. Other times it takes years for first responders to recognize our emotional injuries. It may be we are the walking wounded.

Process Has A Beginning

Healing is a process. It may be quick, or it may require weeks, months, and years to recover with rehabilitation.

Some of us have many wounds that need addressing. Some of us may even have been wounded by those we thought were supposed to be there to help.

If we have been wounded and are walking around we carry signs of injury. Just like a person who broke their leg limps. We may limp relationally.

So its important that we receive the care we so desperately need because the wounded cannot help anyone swim if they are drowning in life.

If life has dealt you an injury you need healing. [Tweet “Please don’t try to live out the remainder of your life with an emotional limp.”]

Instead find someone you trust that you can to talk to. If you don’t know anyone then pray to the healer to guide you to a safe person. Let them in on your pain. Allow them to help you get the first responders you need. Let them assess your injuries of the heart and mind. Then surrender to the treatment, or treatments you need to walk whole again.

It takes many specially trained individuals for the treatment plan to work. It also takes trust in the ultimate healer to trust the process.

It may take days, weeks, months, or years to heal. So why is it important that you seek treatment and stick with it?

Process Has An Ending

Well if you are a parent or grandparent then you will show your children and grandchildren how to trust in God as Healer. You will show others that your wounds were significant to God, and that healing is possible. What was meant for evil can be used for good to help others heal too.

I pray that you recognize that no matter what has injured your mind or heart that God wants your brokenness to be healed. His glory can shine through the cracks of your story to give others hope.

Praying For You

I’m praying for you today. Whether you are walking wounded, know someone who needs healing, whether you are someone God uses in the healing process, your story is one He wants to use to give hope, or you don’t know why God has led you to read this today.

Don’t refuse help on the side of the road of life. You can fly down life’s highways again. Let God help you. His work is through the hands and feet of Jesus with skin on people.

Surrender

I have many layers of healed heart. I have been walking a healing journey for many years. I have had to say yes, and surrender to the Healer again and again. I wouldn’t trade the intimacy with God and the healing experience for anyone or anything. His glory shines through my story. It’s the cracks of my brokenness that lets Him do just so.  I surrender to His healing hands daily.

From one mother to all others, Happy Mother’s Day.

Beloved, you deserve wholeness. You absolutely do.

Will you say yes to the Healer today?

 1The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.    Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV
