You walk in upstage, slowly gulping, trying to swallow with a dry mouth. Maybe a drink of water would have been a good idea. Oh No! They are calling your name and it is time to take center stage. What no last minute rehearsal? I’m not ready yet. Wait, I can’t perform. What was I going to say? What if I forget my lines.
You take a deep breath and decide to just be yourself. You walk with slow, unsteady steps up to the microphone. Without glancing out into the audience you take your place.
You gaze upward.Then you realize, instead of stage lights being down and the spotlight being on you, there is a bright light piercing your eyes. Suddenly things come into focus. There He is. Your audience of One. It is just you and God in the theater of your life.
There He is, on the throne, so perfect, so holy. How did you ever think you could come and stand before Him? Look what you’ve done, and now here you are naked and distressed of soul.
Then you hear a whisper across your heart, “Come boldly, I have chosen you and not rejected you.”
Suddenly peace comes over you and you exit the stage to sit at His right hand. Intimate conversation begins as you pray. A dialog that surpasses the trials, tribulations, questions, and failures of life. Enveloped with hope, in an audience of One.
We are forgiven, we can come boldy as His chosen, Beloved. ❤ Melinda
14Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].
15For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
