In this season of life I am learning that it is empowering to make choices that give life to me, and others. Just like the healthy choices I wanted my six-year-old to make so that her body would be nourished, and not just fed.
When making choices we are challenged by the words of our Lord.
19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV
If you are struggling with a life choice today. Ask yourself if the choice will give life to you and others. Think the choice through. What will happen down the road if I make the choice.
Although some choices have to be made by faith, what gives life to you and others is important. Don’t worry about what others will say. Instead pray like this, knowing God hears and will honor what choice is made according to His word.
In John 10:10 Lord, your word tells me Jesus came to give me life and life more abundantly. Help me know what your purpose for me is now. Help me choose what brings me abundant life, and brings life to others. So that you may be glorified. Help me long only to please you and not those who have opinions about what I should be doing. Empower me to make the right choice knowing I have come to you for direction. Help me weed out what I think is noble, but not best right now. Then help me remember the choice is my responsibility, and that it should bring peace and happiness to me. In Jesus name, Amen.
