Feasting On and With Him

They celebrated Passover with Him where He spoke of a New Covenant of His body and blood.  They feasted on Him and with Him before they even knew the significance of the meal.

Shock, Awe, and Pride

They were shocked at His accusation of one of them who would share the cup they drank from.  They were confused by what he said was about to happen.  Surely one of them wouldn’t betray their Lord.  Who could it be? The questions that plagued them were brutal.

There was an intimate speaking with Peter about denial as Peter looked at Him face to face.  He replied, “Never!”

Jesus told Peter in Mark 22:31 that, “Satan desires to sift you as wheat.”  That He was about to be tested and tried, and pride rose up in Peter although Jesus told Him He had prayed for Him.

“But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Luke 22:32 NIV

To Be Served

They could hardly manage to allow Him to wash their feet.  In John 13 One in particular said that he wouldn’t let him wash His feet.  Jesus responded that you must be washed if you wish to follow me.  Jesus said, I don’t need to cleanse you completely, just your feet.  See his feet were dirty from the world he had been walking in.  At the insistence of the Master Peter submitted.  I wonder if all the while he pondered their intimate conversation.  The were served again by the One they thought they were serving.  He implored them, “Serve one another as I have served you.”  After all the word says in that Jesus came to serve.

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:28 NIV

To Feed and Serve You

Jesus wants to feed and serve you.  Through the meal of the New Covenant made through the breaking of His body and the shedding of His Life blood.  He wants to wash you from the filth you have gathered as the dust of the world has settled on your feet.  Will you take and eat?  Will you deny Him before those who want to persecute you for your faith in who He is and what He has done?  Will you be served by Jesus?

Face to Face

If you plan to follow you can be sure you will come Face to face with these questions of faith.  Jesus intercedes for us daily and has prayed for us that our faith would not fail.  Check out John 17 this week.  Do you need to feast on Him and with Him?  Do you need boldness to proclaim your faith?  Do you need to be served and washed in the water of His word.  Beloved He waits for you to sit and take off your shoes and look into the face of your Savior.
