Agapetos: One Who is Unconditionally Loved

Shaking

Beloved is translated into agapetos in the Greek.  It stands for one who is loved unconditionally.

When I think about the fact that God loves me unconditionally and calls me His beloved, I remember the last few years and the shaking of everything in my life.

I don’t think that I could explain the shaking except to say that I can empathize with Job’s suffering.

Revealing

I asked God to reveal His true self to me while reading a book by Beth Moore called Believing God over three years ago.  Since then my daughter left home for her father’s house at age thirteen, I lost my ministry, I lost family transportation, I lost people in my life that I never thought would leave who were both family and friend, I gained haters who literally did everything in their power to thwart my success and my good name.  And, I had to face places that needed healing that caused panic attacks and such.

Though the process was painful I have come to know that My God loves me unconditionally.  He has truly revealed Himself to be more than I knew Him to be.  I learned how to receive His forgiveness and give it.

Though my faith was shaken on every level I also know I love my God unconditionally.  The shaking only strengthened my faith in Him. and not in my faith.  A great mistake we make is having faith in how much faith we have instead of having faith in God.  His faithfulness has proved my Beloved’s love for me.  Even when my faith in Him was tried in the most fearful ways, God has been my Beloved and I, His.

I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; He grazes among the lilies.

Song of Solomon 6:3 (ESV)

Getting Past Your Fear

It can be a fearful thing to take God out of the box we put Him in Beloved.  Are you willing to allow God to show you His real self.

I am not saying that everything will be shaken. I am not saying it will not.  God works in His own mysterious ways with each of us.  I am just wondering if you know Him as your Beloved and yourself as His?

Are you willing to jump into His arms by taking your trust out of people, things, money, the government, physicians, your position, yourself, and anything else that makes you feel secure.  It’s a great place to be when you realize all you need is God and that you are unconditionally loved.

The Lord appeared to us in the past,[a] saying:

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Jeremiah 31:3 NIV
