How is your health?
Have you ever noticed a cold starting or an ache or injury that you put off seeing the doctor about? How did that turn out? I wonder if it got worse and then eventually the treatment was more complicated than it would have been if you had just gone to the doctor. Some of you may not have had that experience but you know someone who did.
So how is your health, and when I ask I mean your spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health. You see we are made in the image of our Creator. We are one person wholly, but are a total of spirit, soul, and body.
I have quite a many testimony of healing and the healing process in my life. Ones of physical healing, healing of the soul, and of the spirit.
About Redemption
Our spirit is completely redeemed once we accept Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It is sealed for the day of redemption. Our soul is being redeemed. It has the sin nature in it. So God is sanctifying us in our mind, will, and emotions that we would be more Christ like. The physical body will not be redeemed until the day of Jesus’ return. To sum up we are redeemed, being redeemed, and will be redeemed all at the same time.
Because we are a whole person the health of these parts of us effects the others. For example if I am suffering from a chronic illness it can cause depression. Or, depression can cause physical pain.
I think it is very important to evaluate the health of our whole person before we go further into the series. Take some time and pray to God asking Him to show you areas in your life that need healing. Some may be noticeable because they are hurting. Others can be sly. He will reveal them to you.
What Do You Need?
If we are going to be healed then we have to acknowledge that we need healing and we have access to the Healer.
Check out this man who needed healing:
46 Jesus and his disciples went to Jericho. And as they were leaving, they were followed by a large crowd. A blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting beside the road. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus from Nazareth, he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David,[a] have pity on me!” 48 Many people told the man to stop, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!”
They called out to the blind man and said, “Don’t be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.” 50 The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus.
51 Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Master,[b] I want to see!”
52 Jesus told him, “You may go. Your eyes are healed because of your faith.”
Right away the man could see, and he went down the road with Jesus.
Where do you want to be healed?
Mark 10:46-52 CEV
Two things I have learned are that we must come face to face with what ails us, and we must stop ignoring our need for healing.
I have a secret to share with you. Some of us have secrets that we have never told anyone and they are wreaking havoc on the health of our whole person. Beloved, we are only as sick as our secrets sometimes.
Jesus came to heal. Who did He come to heal? Me and you. What ails you? If you have a secret it is time to surrender the secret. Light can only shine if you come out of the dark places or you turn on the light.
