Heart Strings

Gratitude is Attitude:An Acrostic Approach

As we approach the holiday season I wonder what season of life you find yourself in.  I know myself that it has been a wintry season for me and suffering of soul has often tried to prevent gratitude.  Some days grief keeps me from praising a God who is worthy of it.

I have determined that gratitude is an attitude I ought to be exercising.  So I thought that the focus of this month should be an attitude of gratitude that will hopefully prepare our hearts for not only Thanksgiving, but Christmas as well.

If gratitude is expressed as an attitude then it is not based on what we feel at the moment.  We can choose our attitude.

Dictionary.com describes attitude as “manner, disposition, feeling, position, etc., with regard to a person or thing; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind: a negative attitude; group attitudes.”

Like I said, we can choose our attitude.  To help us along with that I have come up with this acrostic.

Acknowledge what you have and take your focus off what you do not have.

Thank God for those things.

Tabulate how God has and is working in your life.

Inspire others with your testimony of God’s goodness.

Tally your needs and requests.

Unveil God’s grace in these areas of your life.

Determine to wait on the Lord.

Expect Him to be as faithful as He has been in the past.

As we continue together in preparation of our heart attitude this month we will focus on this acrostic.  I pray that by the end of November we will be filled with gratitude regardless of our circumstances so that God may be glorified.

With you join me in acquiring an attitude of gratitude?

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV
