Running the Race: Staying the Course Through Fear

What a Picture

I was so blessed while looking for a picture on the free domain.  I decided to hang onto it for today’s post.  I feel it is necessary today to remind you to stay the course of your race!

Who or What is Your Goliath?

During the race you will be facing whoever or whatever your Goliath is.  Use what you have to knock Him down.  Use the Word of God, Prayer, Praise, and when it gets really hard break out, “Jesus loves me this I know!” Turn your eyes on the armies of God fighting for you like David did:

When the Philistine Giant was threatening the Israelites it took the courage of a young boy to face him.  David recalled the goodness of God when he was protecting his flock from lions and bears.  In 1 Samuel 17:36-37 NIV David said,

36 Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.

Don’t trust in Someone Else’s Armor

King Saul tried to give David his armor to fight the giant.  It was a great offer, but David could not use them because he was not used to them.  He didn’t know how to fight that way.  So David went and chose five smooth stones and loaded the  slingshot he was trained to use.

When he came before Goliath, the giant laughed.  But David took aim, and shot him right between the eyes.  That giant fell with a thud, he was dead. Just like he told he would be.

Using someone elses armor is not going to kill the giants in your life.  You have to face them yourself with your faith.  You have to use the armor God gave you.  Remember what our Savior faced prior to the victory He won for us. In His strength you can stand before the giants in your life remembering the words of Paul in Romans 8:31 NIV:

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us

Stand before him and give him everything you have got right between the eyes.

Then that fear will be under your feet, it won’t be long.  Romans 16:20 says,

20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
