Out of the Box Party

I briefly sold Pampered Chef years ago.  I remember they would have us ask if anyone had purchased items before.  Then we would ask them if they had taken it out of the box.  I was surprised at how many people had not used what they purchased.  We encouraged them to have an out of the box party.  One where they actually used what they had purchased before and anything they decided to purchase that night.

Well I want to know if you have taken God out of the box lately?

Empty Cardboard Boxes by Vera Kratochvil.

It is so easy to get settled in our belief.  To put God in a box according to our doctrine, our denomination, our experiences.  However, God doesn’t fit into a box.  God is a gift you keep unwrapping.

Just when you think you have God figured out, think again!  His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts.  This is an example of unbelief and idolatry.  By believing God is a certain way you put Him in a box and create an idol.  By refusing to allow what you believe about Him to be stretched, challenged, and expanded through interaction with the Spirit of truth you have fallen into unbelief.

If you have spent any time with God you know that there are layers to what is revealed to you about Him.  We must open our minds and allow Him to correct misconceptions, change our perceptions, and give us direction that leads to the unwrapping of new revelation.  We may have to repent, we may have to go through a season of questioning everything we know about Him, but if what the Spirit is revealing to us is in line with His word then we know it is truth.  13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13 NIV

God also confirms His word with witnesses.  It may be a conversation between friends, something in a sermon, something on television, in a book you are reading, a letter you receive, lyrics in a song, and other such ways.  Listen for His confirmation.

Ask Him to help you take Him out of the box.  And keep unwrapping the gift of God.  He is unsearchable.  There is no end to Him.  Don’t stop opening the layers of the gift He is. Allow Him to blow your mind.  Ask Him for divine connections who will help you understand what He is revealing to you.  He wants you to know Him.  Intimacy is so important to God.  There is a reason He wants relationship with us and not our religion.

Each time you remember have an out of the box party.  Invite your brothers or sisters in Christ who are your confidants to converse with you about what you have learned about God.  Your faith will be increased because faith comes by hearing and by speaking it out loud to them it will resonate with what was revealed to you by the Spirit. You don’t want to have to shove what they don’t understand down they throats because revelation is spiritually discerned and not carnal.  So if they don’t, then move on to what God is revealing to them in their life.  They will love you for it.

The greatest thing about an out of the box party is that it gives you an opportunity to share the gift God is.  If you are bold enough, invite those you know who need God in their life to join you all.  Your faith will spark a wantonness in them to receive the gift of God, and then you can encourage them as they have their own out of the box parties.

It is time to take God out of the box.  He doesn’t belong in there anyway!

All’s Grace,

❤ Melinda
