My answer is YES!
I just finished a study called Living Free breaking the cycle of defeat by James Robison and Robert Morris. I highly recommend EVERY Christian go through this bible study.
For today’s purposes I invite you to take a look at John 8:31-34.
Who is talking to who in v. 31?
My answer: Jesus is talking to the Jews that believed Him.
Would you agree those are the first Christians?
My answer: Yes
Who are His disciples?
My answer: Those who
hold fast to His word and live in accordance to His teachings.
Are you a disciple?
I will let you answer that
How do you know the truth?
My answer: You stick to, bind yourself to, adhere to His word and live in accordance to His teachings
Notice verse 33. The early Christians said, “We have never been in bondage to anyone!”
Interesting statement considering they were Jews, who believed Him. They had been in bondage to everyone. Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, and the Romans when they said this.
Look at verse 34. Who else is in bondage?
“I assure you.” Talking to those who believed Him. “I most solemnly tell you.” Again talking to those who believed Him. “Whoever commits and practices sin is a slave of sin.”
Who commits sin?
Everyone. Remember, “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
So how do we get free? Read verse 36.
My answer: We get free by asking Jesus to save us. We get free daily by walking with Him and resisting temptation that leads to sin. If we fail to resist, and fail to repent, as Christians we are again in bondage to our sin. We must confess our sins agreeing we are sinners, and then ask the Savior to again set us free.
What are your thoughts about Christians being in bondage?
Beloved, It’s your turn. Leave a comment with your answer. ❤ Mindy

Really y’all I’m just another Samaritan woman seeking living water and pouring out where I see need for encouragement. I am 48, mother to four girls ages 16-26, Gigi to the most handsome 2-year-old little boy, Fibromyalgia warrior, minister, writer, and a lifetime learner.
I am writing my first book, slowly but surely, six chapters in, as our blessed first love has called me to share His glory in my story. I feel lost in that familiar desert place, and thankful for the manna that is there miraculously every day. I am overcoming hour by hour the condemning voices of the enemy and learning to love myself. It has been an arduous journey. This wordsmith journey, but so worth it.
I became a licensed minister in 2010. However, I do not currently work in the ministry. I share Christ's love through devotional blogging. I have a degree in Church Ministry, was pursuing my degree in Christian Care and Counseling at Oral Roberts University, but now am pursuing Life Coaching, and Neurolinguistic Programming Master Practioner Certifications and a business license.
I am a certified women’s biblical counselor through the Extraordinary Women's program at Light University. I am working on their Addiction and Recovery program now too. Yes, I am a glutton for punishment with a wealth of life experiences with which I can minister comfort to others.
I'm a lover of a good book, writing, singing, and music, and my nemesis is the perpetual laundry pile.
Blessings to you and yours,
<3Melinda
